About Us

Art for Cure was founded by three people who share common passions: to a help others in need, to volunteer for organizations for whose causes they believe, for their love of art, and their belief it can heal and aid in cure.

It All Began With Bob's Amazing Flowers
Bob Stockfield, Komen Maryland volunteer photographer, and Jennifer Tisch (a graphic designer who captained a team of 200) became instant friends when they met at the Maryland Race for the Cure in 2005. They stayed in touch and worked together on projects at the National Institutes of Health where Jennifer was then working. The idea for Life Blooms stemmed from Bob’s love of flower photography. He called Jennifer up and said that he had hundreds of photos of flowers that he shot over the years because of his wife's love for them. He asked Jennifer to help him do something nice for Komen with them. It is all history from there. Bob sent Jennifer a CD containing hundreds of photos and she selected her favorites and created the piece now named Life Blooms. Jennifer wanted to bring something even more meaningful to the piece so she called her dear friend Jennifer Patrizio who is a breast cancer & leukemia survivor. Jennifer knew of the other Jennifer's very eloquent writing style, and her amazing talent of giving speeches that bring people to tears, so she asked her to write down her thoughts in how breast cancer has affected her and to weave it into a flower theme. Life Blooms was then created.

The group shared the piece with Komen Maryland and everyone loved the idea so much that further discussion of the potential of this concept made the group decide to found Art for Cure.
Jennifer Carr Patrizio is a 5-year breast cancer survivor and 2-year leukemia survivor. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up in Youngstown, OH. After graduating from Youngstown State University with a BA in English, Jennifer relocated to Maryland and in 1996 married Ed Patrizio and settled in Crofton, Maryland. Jennifer is now a stay-at-home mom for their 7 year old daughter, Stephanie. Jennifer also volunteers at her daughter's elementary school, sings in her church's choir, and just completed her first half marathon in June with Team in Training to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Jennifer is passionate about her family, fitness, and advancing science and medicine toward a cure for all cancers.
